Got my haircut yesterday by a student in the Academy. The "student" (actually work as a stylist in Shanghai for 15 years) got great skills and attended an advanced training class in Academy. I've got a very stylish look and very happy with the quality. Important is that it only costs HK$50!!!! Highly recommended to others.......

I made an appointment for a colour with Toni & Guy academy. They're very inflexible with times, but I agreed to whatever they could offer me. I got a call the next day saying sorry, I couldn't actually have the time I'd booked, and the soonest appointment I could have was three weeks later. Three weeks later I called in the morning to confirm my appointment time, then arrived right on time at 12pm. They told me first to sit down and wait, then 15 minutes later (I'm doing this in my lunch break of course), they tell me the previous appointment is running late and "maybe you make an appointment for another day". I said "But I've already come across town, in the middle of a work day, for this appointment, which has already been cancelled once". To which they replied "it's just my opinion, but maybe you should come another day."
Rebooked the appointment for a week later, the only time was 11:45. Of course, work later books me in for an important meeting at that time, so now I have to cancel. No problem! Turns out they'd never booked me in for the appointment at all! There's someone else booked in at that time. I ask to reschedule (yes, I'm pretty persistent), and they say "maybe you want a cut instead'. No, pretty sure I still want colour. Turns out they only have one colourist, who graduates Wednesday, and is apparently not being replaced. "Maybe you just leave your number, and book a cut, and we will call you." Somehow I think that isn't going to happen. Maybe the academy needs to run a few classes on booking appointments.

The academy is the training centre for toni & guy HK, where the students are taught and they do cheap treatments to practice,sounds scary but its really not! First up it is very cheap for the service that you get; I paid HK$130 for a full head of foil highlights (I have long hair) and HK$50 for a cut, some long layers. I was very happy with the outcome, but take this advice, be sure of what you wnat before you go, maybe even take some pics. And don't worry, there are tutors supervising them, and you get the full works, head massage etc...and for a fraction of the cost of a regular salon...excellent, I highly recommend it!
