The hospital is one of the newest and largest public hospitals on Hong Kong Island. The entire complex occupies a site area of 150,000 square metres. It has, at the present moment, 1,835 beds and a staff force of over 3,000.

Advanced facilities available at the hospital include 3 dimensional computerized tomography scan, x-knife, gamma camera, linear accelerator, brachy therapy, and cardiac catheterization laboratory.
