I'm including this as a review given that there is a lot of info in the email I got from the folks at the Archery Club.
We are Hong Kong Island Archery Club, one of the 20+ affiliates of the Hong Kong Archery Association, sponsored by the Sports Development Board of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the HKSAR Government. Location : Our shooting range is out-door, on the roof-top of Kei-Lung-Wan service reservoir in Pokfulam. If you come by public transport, say taxi or mini-bus from Central, you can take one that goes Wah-Fu Estate or Aberdeen direction. It will go along the Pokfulam Road to the west; after you past ChiFu Estate and Pokfulam Estate, at the junction of Pokfulam Road and Victoria Road, there is a set of traffic lights; and on the right there is a fire-station; you take off from here; on the left there is a Kwai Fong Floral Nursery; alongside, there is a small drive-way (currently thru a construction site); perpendicular to the Pokfulam Road, and go up-hill; you walk about 300 metres up, and we are there. I have attached a map for your reference. There are no official parking lot at the range. Our members just park their cars along the pathway at their own risk. You may have a peep on how our range looks like at <http://www.archery.com.hk/brochure/>; http://www.archery.com.hk/brochure/. Practicing distances are from 10m to 50m, and 70m on a diagonal basis. We have approx 6 lanes for regular practice, and 4 lanes reserved for classes. Utilities : We have to confess that our range is not well facilitated, we have no electricity supply, and no washrooms. But all our members can bear with that. Currently, there are construction work nearby, on slopes-rectification. Opening Hours : Our opening hour is 15:00-18:00 on Saturday and public holidays; and 09:00-13:00 on Sunday. Training : From time to time, we conduct training courses from Elementary level to Progressive to Intermediate. Further info on training course is available at www.archery.cc <http://www.archery.cc>; The Elementary Course is a 10-hours training in 4 sessions, either on afternoon of Saturday or morning of Sunday; topics covered are safety measures, basics skills and knowledge, archery development in HK, etc. All equipment are provided and included in the course fee, and you do not have to be member to enroll into the Elementary course. Minimum age for the class is 12, thinking of appropriate equipment and maturity. Membership : Applicant for 'ordinary membership' needs to be age 18 or above, and knows the basic skills and safety in archery. The application process is simple: you file an application form endorsed by the Executive Committee; pay the one-time foundation fee ($300), yearly fee ($390 for 12 months), and another $10 yearly archer-registration-fee payable to the HongKong Archery Association if you want to participate in the HKAA tournaments. The approval process takes less then 4 weeks. We are not hard-selling our membership. You really don't have to be our member to practice at our range. If you hold membership of other HKAA affiliated clubs, or archery clubs from overseas, you can pay a nominal target-fee (HK$20) each time and practice as a 'guest'. But you need to have your own equipment. As a full ordinary member, you are eligible to participate in all the activities organized by the Club; have voting right in AGM/EGM; run for the Club's Executive Committee bearer; use of range facility and equipment, etc. Your obligation to the Club includes well behaviour at the range, assist in range maintenance works, and comply with the Club's Constitution. A copy of our Constitution is available at the range for reference. Demographics : Current membership count is approx 80-100; active faces will be like 30-40; we also have 4-6 expatriates along with bilingual members, so socializing should not be a problem. We have some pros who are/were representatives of the HK Archery Team, as well as casual archers who seldom join tournaments but shoot just for fun. Results 1 - 1 of 1
