Trendy see-and-be-seen bar and restaurant in Central, just up the street from Lan Kwai Fong. It is known for its "must-have-style" door rule. Very classy, cosmopolitan interior.

Dragon-i is divided into a dining area/VIP space called the Red Room, and a bar & dance floor called Playground. Red Room serves Chinese-Japanese fusion cuisine. Playground is where the hip crowd hangs out. It features a long, leisurely bar, New York-style booths to relax in, and club DJs spin ning "groovy only" music.

Having visited Dragon-i recently, I was Happy to find that the venue does indeed have a Happy Hour from 6 until 9pm Monday through to Saturday and was pleasantly surprised to receive warm and friendly service from all the staff - one of the Bar staff left his post from behind the bar to ensure that I was greeted at the entrance, and directions were pleasantly given as to the whereabouts of the washroom, as well as the door being held open as 'It's a very heavy door - let me help you with that".
Drinks, including most cocktails (including the Mojito!) are all half price and my entire experience there was absolutely 5 star - Perhaps Mr (or Miss?) Shri has some 'attitude' of their own which illicits a similar response from those that Shri encounters?

Dragon-i has become well known for it's strict 'door policy' of 'guest list & invitation only' but is well worth the wait if you can get in. Most of the trendy AKA 'Posh Pretty People' that get out and about to the various hot nightspots around town should have little trouble getting in. Highly advisable NOT to show up with a large group of guys. Dragon-i draws the more affluent crowd and there is rarely any trouble there - perhaps a benefit of the strict door policy?

If you' like to socialize with the funky crowd where you know there's going to be a great atmosphere and feel good vibe, then Dragon-i is the place to be. Wednesday night is 'Candystore' where all the hottest models (gals & guys) can be found grooving to R&B and other tunes. Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays are busy nights, so get there early if you don't want to have to try and jump the queue (coz you can if you're dressed to PARTY as 'Posh Pretty People' !! ) don't bother jumping the queue if you've got a face like that looks like you've been chasing parked cars. Last but not least - a FREE bottle of Veuve Clicquot goes to the person who can guess who 'scandalousone' is !! Inform the Bar Manager, Scott, of who you think it may be and try your luck!

[Editorial Note: The user who submitted this review is also named scott and might just be the bar manager. The review is approved for its humor value though.]
Dragon-I has an excellent lunch-time (12:30-2:30PM) dim sum buffet. You can choose from a list of 25 items and they'll bring them out as you order. All the usual dim-sum items were there, including har-gau, cha-siu bau etc and the exotic items like chicken feet, tripe etc.

The $88 (+10%) tab includes tea.

Definately going there again.

=======================

I have to add to this review and express my unhappiness with their happy hour / evening service. Dragon-I happens to be one of the "posh pretty people bars", catering to the err ... posh and pretty people. A couple of colleagues of mine and I happened to walk in there today for happy hour and ended up walking out in 5 minutes.

Why? Well the service and more importantly the attitude was *horrible*. The bartender rudely told us we'd have to wait for our drinks because he was busy and the waiters didn't seem to care. Hello!!! We just need a beer... does not talk a brain surgeon to pour one!

We were then quite abruptly told that there was no happy hour. I suspect 'Posh Pretty People' don't have to worry about happy hour. Someone I know who was there the same night, got charged $85 for a mohito.

So, while their lunch is pretty good, this establishment has a bit of a schizo personality and is completely not recommended for happy hour. Unless.... you're a posh pretty person!

I'm dropping the overall rating of this place from 4 to 2.
