Question

>> There are ways to get around registering a HK address in an overseas ebay account so that shouldn't be a problem. You can simply change the address on your Australian ebay registration.

i want to help another HK English speaker to register at eBay, but i do not understand what above said. pls someone explain the tips to avoid ebay Chinese interface.

Lots of HK ebay sellers selling "Mainland China Edition" DVDs, but they still request HK located Buyers to pay for high priced worldwide shipping charge, unreasonable as they want to make big profit from shipping fees. Do you have the same experience ?

hi jayinhongkong
where to add Instant Messengers info in profile ?

Cheers ! and have a good business!
The rule in Europe is to pay at least VAT for all items coming from extra-CEE countries, except for personal effects.
So, what your brother paid was simply the VAT everyone importing should pay. From HK and China you should also consider payments of duties according to commodity and the risk to get asked some import license for items like some garments, shoes and some electronic equipments. Often Customs officers close on eye with small packages via express courier, sometimes eyes are wide open.
It's always better to ask Customs of the importing countries before shipping goods.
