Housing Allowance: HK and USA tax questions

Looking at a new job and, for the first time in my experience, the company has offered to classified part of the salary as rental reimbursement. My wife already gets a housing allowance. Since my wife's allowance does not cover our current rent, can I apply the remaining rent towards my housing allowance for purposes of HK taxes? Currently, our lease is in both of our names.

Also, for those familiar with USA taxes, I believe I can claim a foreign housing exclusion if my employer provides for rental reimbursement. In this case, do I need to provide any additional documentation to the IRS besides my job contract and rent receipts?
