Whats Good Anti Virus Software

Hi Guys,
As its said that Norton Anti Virus or Norton Internet Security is not good and makes the pc slow, so what do you think is the best software in that case.
Please explain your views.
Thanks.

We're just about to launch an interesting partnership with these guys ..

www.pandasoftware.com

Been winning a lot of awards lately and I've personally found it top notch when compared to Norton and McAfee....

Trial versions will be available from our Hong Kong server by the end of the day.

Personally I use ZoneAlarm as my firewall, try to avoid Microsoft software as much as possible (Firefox and a very obscure mail program), have my browser configured to avoid the worst security risks, and am scrupulous about not opening executable (& similar) attachments to emails unless I am sure about them. I've never had a problem.

I'm not "missing" it - I've taken a concious decision not to install any. I don't need anti-virus software because I don't do anything that puts me at significant risk of exposure to viruses. The cost in terms of slowing every single operation down is simply not worth the very minimal risk in my view. But then I'm a computer sicnece graduate with many years experience so I sort of think I know what I am doing. If you are a clueless newbie then I guess anti-virus might be a good idea. YMMV.

I do, however, use SpyBot Search& Destroy, Adaware and Startup Cop on a regular basis just to check that nothing has snuck in without me noticing. And when I'm bored I sometimes wander over the registry with Regedit just to see what's there

I've cleaned about 5 computers from spyware/adware using this software so I'd recommend it.

http://www.clamwin.com/

Norton and other large Antivirus companies actually suck because all viruses are built to circumvent them. (eg. some viruses/spyware won't allow Norton to run or delete them).

Just install and update clamwin and go to options and tell Clamwin to remove viruses and it will actually do exactly that! In my experience, the viruses/spyware aren't able to reinstall themselves after you reboot your computer.

But if you want to prevent viruses/spyware, you really need to switch to Mozilla Firefox. Almost all spyware are built to exploit Internet Explorer. Actually makes a big difference.

I also like Spybot because its small, free and doesn't install adware spyware. I usually run Spybot before Clamwin. But Clamwin seems to do a pretty good job by itself.
