Hong Kong Resident Status

Hi, I am here on a one year work visa(Although have a two year contract). I am picking up my HKID card this week. Does this make me a HK resident? I am asking in regards to Life Insurance, which when applying states that applicant must be a Hong Kong resident.

it does make you a HK resident for that purpose.
