newbie here looking for new friends & language partners!

Hi everyone,

I'm a HK girl.
I'm a native Cantonese speaker, OK Mandarin, and now,
I'm learning Japanese.
I can speak English too. But don't have chances to practise it!
That's why, i'm so scared to talk to some one.

I would like to improve my English
I can teach you some Cantonese and Mandarin, in return!

I also want to make some friends from different countries.

Let me know if you're interested!

regards,
Suki

Hi girl,
welcome to geoexpat. im actually a newbie here too. may i ask wats the level of jap ur studying? im on an advanced level but as u said, there are not many chances of speaking jap here so it'll be good if we can practise it together hehe. i also wanna speak better english though people always say i have american accent but i dun lol i do have some caucasian friends in hk so maybe u can join our gathering too
If there are any native eng speaker who wanna make new friends or learn some local cantonese, i guess we can set up something like a language club

Hi Suki

We almost gathered last week for a language exchange outing but it didn't work out very well
see: Looking for language partners & new friends!

I'm sure we will all make it next time, maybe this week actually ? - Let's see what kind of feedback we get...

Don't be scared, I'm new here as well and all the people I've met and talked to were very nice. There will be plenty of events for you to practice various languages!

Talk to you soon!

b.

Talking Yep I'm a newbie too!

Hi guys

I have been in town just over 2 wks now, and think its about time I start socialising.
I know 3 ppl in town, and 3 words of cantonese So the opportunity to meet more people and learn some cantonese, would be great. I am a native english speaker (although an aussie so my slang is terrible) and would love to meet up or join a language club.

This should be fun!

Nat

Talking Good Good

Hi Susu,

Who will be an organizer to do it?

Do you have time to do so on weekdays? I am an office lady as most HK workers.........I only have time to do it on weekends and holidays. But I am looking forward to meet up anyone or join any gatherings.

Take Care la
Becky

Hi there. I arrived in HK last week and would be interested in learning another language. I'm a native English speaker and am interested in picking up both Cantonese and Mandarin (is this too ambitious to try for both??). I'm basically on vacation while I wait for my MBA program to start in the fall. I suppose I could help organize the first meeting...

Hi all,

in town since... 3 days!

as all, i am very interested in all socializing ways, and especially language exchange: i managed to lean greek in some years, why would i fail in Cantonese (some will say it might be arder hey?).

but why only week ends? why not after office, like 20h00 or so?

who said that as long as not enmployed, he would manage the organzition of the first meeting? was that Rayinhk? we count on you Ray...

see you soon i hope.
