| Taking Pictures in HK I'll be in HK for the summer and I plan to take hundreds of pictures while there. Is there anything you're not allowed to take pictures of? Are people OK with you taking random pictures on the streets? If you ask a random person on the street to take a picture of you will they run off with your camera? How about inside buildings? Are there any rules about taking pictures inside shops or banks? Thanks for the info. |

| Most people don't care if you are taking pictures of them, though the general "rules" of street photography applies, e.g. ask nicely, appear innocent (i.e. no monster camera/zooms), and not offend people who can hurt you Photography on private property in HK is similar to elsewhere. Appear "touristy" and you're fine; but if you _look_like_ you are doing any kind of commercial work then a permit/approval from management/etc ... is required. It's not that much different from the U.S. |
