Ceramic Tile drill-bits - where to buy?

Hello everyone. I'm looking for ceramic (carbide-tip) drill-bits, hopefully somewhere near Causeway Bay. Anyone know where to buy them? I've checked Price-Rite as well as some of my local hardware stores, but they seem difficult to buy. Lots of conrete drill-bits around, but I'm worried about using those on ceramic (i.e. bathroom, kitchen tile). As a side-note, I've noticed drill-bits are hard to find (in general) in Hong Kong. Would love some input.

hmmmm.... just a suggestion....if you end up using masonry drill.... put a couple of bits of masking tape in crisscross manner on the tile where you want to drill.... and then drill through the tape.... make sure you keep the drill tip well lubricated... if it is variable speed drill try low speeds...

have fun

Thanks...I did consider that as a back-up plan, but I'm worried regular concrete drills will break-up the tile too much, even with my trusty heavy-duty hammer-drill. If I can't find the right drill-bit, I will probably bite the bullet and give it a go.

you can use a normal drill bit for metal with standard mode to make the hole before you actualy use the concrete drill, using masking tape is not a bad idea but should be with metal drill bit. Hope this help, thanks

There is an area of MongKok filled with tiles and bathroom supplies. Maybe there.

Isn't there a strip of places in Wan Chai on Lockhart Road? I thought you might find one in a bathroom fixture place.

You are right abt cracking the tile. Can you take a tile to a hardware store and THEN ask for the correct bit so they truly understand you?

I bought one at Wing On today. Go there if you're still looking (or anyone else, since a clear answer never came up).

They have 3mm and 5mm sizes, about $13 each.
