| | | Sai Kung Hi,
Can anybody help? I am trying to find accommodation, pref 2 bedroomed for three months in the Sai Kung area. We have a maximum budget of HK$15,000.
I have contacted various Property Agents none of whom have gotten back to me and have also tried the serviced apartments tab at the top of this forum which doesn't have any properties in Sai Kung.
Any help greatly appreciated. |

| | | I'm in sai kung and I'll try and find details of good agents for you when i'm next in the town centre. might not be till sunday though.
The problem is though that you might struggle with it being only a short term let for 3 months. I assume you mean a budget of $15k a month?
Most two beds go for a lot less than that a month more nearer 6-8k a month. so you should be able to find something very good at that price. |

| | | Hi Jimbo
Yes sorry HK15 per month, I did think that we would have a problem finding somewhere for 3 months. We aren't moving out to HK until end of August 06 but any help that you might be able to give would be very much appreciated - otherwise it looks as though we might have to live in the city which we don't really want to do.
Thank you. |

| | | You're planning too far ahead - the rental market really only looks 1-2 months ahead. If you're looking to rent a place from the end of August you should be starting to look around early July.
Three months is going to be an issue though - that's either got to be a serviced apartment or a "break-lease" or a holiday let direct from the owner. |

| | hi spanner,
if you want to stay away from city, would you be considering lamma island. As there is a house for rent there, exactly for 3 months as per wat you want. its with a garden, near the beach.. chk the classifieds section. |

| | | Thank you for all your replies. We are happy to take a serviced apartment as it makes it easier for us when we leave and we don't have to buy any furniture. Unfortunately Lamma is a little too far away for us.
We will be attending HKUST so wanted to be living somewhere that would be an easy travel to it and have heard many nice things about Sai Kung.
At the moment its a little like shooting in the dark as I do not know Kowloon well at all so any recommendations on nice areas to live that are within easy reach of HKUST and not too busy are most welcomed.
Thank you |

| | | Just outside HKUST is a small village, has HSBC ATM and couple of dai pai dong places.
There are several property agents on the main road that could help. The problem is that landlords prefer at least one year contracts.
The village is called Tai Po Tsai (prononuced - tie poe jai), has bus services to TKO and Kowloon |

| | | Normally a 3 bedroom flat in a village house in Sai Kung area is about 6-8K per month.
If you pay 15K per month, you might find something like that also for just three months. There is a house of 900sqft empty for many months already - for 6K = the owner might want to take any contract. The property agent is in Sai Kung town, just at the round about. |

| | | I think the three month thing is going to be a bit of a problem. Whilst it would be nice to try and sort something out before we get out there I am thinking that it sounds as though it will be easier to find something when we get there and just take up temporary accommodation for the first couple of weeks.
Thank you all for your help with this, I have actually tried to email a few Agents that look as though they deal with properties in and around Sai Kung but none of them have replied to me at all.
Thanks. |

| | There is a very nice hotel/service apartment with harbour view in Maonshan (not so far to the SaiKung City in fact ). You may have a look to http://www.horizonsuitehotel.com/eng/. If the place is ok for you I assure you that you will find it wonderful. |
