Condensation Dryers

We are shopping for new appliances for our new home, and the stores (Fortress, the Panasonic showroom in Wanchai) have normal electric dryers, and "condensation dryers" which are more expensive, although purportedly better.

Can't find much info on these on the web, but are these worth the extra price?

Thanks!

Personally, I don't think so. I've had two and both take an age to dry the load. They are more convenient as they don't require an exhaust hose rather a drain pipe for the condensed water. If you have the space I would go for the electric dryers.

If a hose isn't convenient, you don't necessarily need one of those either. Instead you can just have the damp air blow out the back of the dryer. As long as the room the dryer is in is ventilated well, it will work fine. I've been doing that (dryer is in my kitchen) and the clothes dries fine, and the kitchen stays dry too.
