The top floor of Stormy Weather (max. capacity = 80, can be booked for private events), the back part of Bar George and potentially [see my previous comment re: Bulldog's] the back room of Bulldog's, which overlooks d'Aguilar street are all possibilities, which meet the criteria I set. There may be others. Let's see what alternative options KIA comes up with.

Texas: the top floor is available .. 80 is way over the limit from what they've told me... 30-40 people can fit in comfortably.

Bar George and Bulldogs -- deposits and minimum spends

Lemme chat with a few folks next week and I'll PM u.

Agree that the quoted capacity sounds a bit high. Unless we're talking about the final or some high-profile match in the knock-out stage, I wouldn't expect more than 30-40 geoexpats to show up.

For those who stay near Causeway Bay: Dickens Bar at Excelsior Hotel. They have several screens and TVs everywhere (even in the toilet...).
They usually close at 1-2am but for the wold cup they will be open until late:

Waterloo is on a distinguished road
Right, just thought of InsideOut (a Bar resturant behind Lee Garden) in Causeway Bay as well. It got a big screen and big open area. The drawback is that it's often crowded (guess it would be like that for the World Cup in all the good bars), and when I watched the Sevens there, you have to sit not too far too be able to watch it ....

p.s. In this kind of chat room, it's interesting to see how easy for people to almost get into arguments or be pissed by each other, just because we have different opinions...

Thanks for arranging this. I m not sure i can attend but definitely want to see this happening! good luck!

lulu, my gf and I will be watching at least the England v Paraguay match with you.

It's just not the same if you can't hear the cheer!

I'll be watching this thread to find out where the rest of the Geoexpat England group are heading. Looking forward to meeting everyone, feeling down because I couldn't make it to the party last night.

lulu, phooey and anyone else looking for a place to watch the matches. I expect we will be able to post a suggested venue in this thread by end of this week / early next week at the latest. Negotiations are on-going and a big factor is obviously the expected turn-out. However, from the poll you can see that interest for England's first match is one of the highest so there should be no shortage of geoexpats with whom to watch it.
