2 Month property lets

Hi,
My girfriend and I are coming to HK for July and August and trying to get some accommodation sorted. We want to find a one bedroom apartment for those couple of months. Ideally we want to stay on the island or maybe South Kowloon but we only have a budget of around HK$4000 per month. Can anyone tell me whether such lets might be available and if so what the best course of action is - try to sort it out from England or when I arrive in HK.

Cheers guys,

My two penneth

My experience when i came was that its very difficult to find such a short lease in the best places. We wanted a 6 month lease and couldn't find one for love nor money. We even offered to pay up the entire 6 months in advance. No deal.
My only advice is that if you are prepared to live on one of the outlying islands, they have decent apartments on very short terms. Sometimes from 1 night upto 6 months. They usually have a booth near the ferry pier when you arrive. You just make the deal there and then. Other than that, if you ring round the agents you might find a managed apartment for short term rental. I'm thinking of gold coast but thats not cheap.
Try and get some agents numbers and call them.

Good luck!

For that short term, you are really looking at a corporate / furnished place, and that would be a bit above your desired rent. I'm not sure what the cheapest corporate place is though, so you might look into that.

Hi,

The best place to live in an outlaying island called Cheung Chau. We are a couple from the UK too. There is a landlord called Mrs Chui that you can contact. It is a really decent place facing seaview, you can take ferry to central(30 mins ride). we used to live there a month ago. there is a couple from Denmark too living there, only for few months for study. Irish guy lives there too.

Monthly rent is HK$4000- 5000 fully furnished apartment (2 bedrooms with balcony). if you are interested, I can give the contact to you. Please email me angelalam511@yahoo.com.hk so I can tell you more in details. I am from Leciester!!

You may also consider to live in Lamma Island. Only 20-30 minutues by ferry away from Central. The rental there may fit your budget.

Is your budget $4,000 in total or each? If you can swing your budget up to about $6/7,000 you could find a serviced apartment near central but expect it to be no bigger than 300 sqf.
