I'm a permanent resident, have been living in HK for over 10 years, also fulfilled all other criterias, but Bank of China still rejected me.
....so gonna try out Standard Chartered now.

I'm quite annoyed as it has been two weeks and what HSBC has done is just verified my business phone, but they didn't clarify the status of my application

But would they expedite the process for HSBC clients abroad. I am an HSBC client in two other countries, but HSBC HK doesnt really give a damn. I had to leverage my connections just to get proper treatment in HK

I think most people do not understand that the same bank in different countries are really different banks. That include HSBC with and IBC, that was where I received service from Singapore. They refused my CC when I easily get a Citibank platinum card. The reason is that HSBC computer God says no, possibly becuase I am not a HK permanent resident. Take your money elsewhere. From my experience, there are more than a few banks that will be interested.

Just wondering if it is easy to get a credit card in HK. What supporting documents do I need to produce to prove my income since right now I only have my employment contract?

Also, can I apply for a credit card if my work visa is not approved yet?

Thanks.

tanbs, but HSBC is SUPPOSED to be different. They're the world's local bank. And when you're a Premier customer in one country, part of their service offering is that you are a Premier customer and will receive all benefits in the same country. They gave me a really hard time and circled issues around. It took my relationship manager back home some hard pushing to get things started. But I agree to look for other banks, Im also looking into Citi ang Hang Seng this Sat.

ayukobaby, hope I get my PSP, I did apply for the promo.
