Hi all,

Yes, after reading all your posts, I guess you're right!

As I said, I just started working, so guess I haven't seen the whole world yet. My apologies =)

Good luck with the job hunt.

After reading all the responses, most of us are in the wrong industry if we want to get the whole expat package thing... I guess it makes financial sense to the employer not to dig themselves into financial trouble taking such a gamble on somebody who they have no track record of especially if they have not worked with the company before... However, make yourself indispensable by working hard and then re-neg!!!

Question:

If I'm a holder of a HKID card - but lived overseas my entire life (til now) can I negotiate any of these benefits with the employers ie: living expenses??

let's put it this way, if they need you and they can't find someone else to do what you can do, you can negotiate for anything. even if u are an illegal they will prob figure out a way to send you back then get a visa for you.

if your skills are commoditised, then good luck. try ask for it but if they reject you that's the end of the game.

there's no hard and fast rule on packages.
