Hate Mobile Spam Let's discuss something about the "uniqueness" of Hong Kong, beside the fax spam...don't you guys get annoyed with all the mobile spam that has been on-going to all the private and business mobile phones! When an indivdual picks up the phone, they are charged per minute airtime! It looks the phone or mobile operators are not doing something about it! In overseas, it is against the law to spam mobile phones with those services!

Agreed. Have you notified your service provider of your wish to not receive this spam? PCCW allow you to set this on their website.

Disco, would that affect receiving calls on your mobile from Skype do you think? What pisses me off about the mobile spam is when you're overseas somewhere like Europe when they come in at 4am and you end up paying the roaming charge!

Lammarite, it should just remove your number from their cold-calling system. It shouldn't affect "normal" calls being received by your mobile. I've had my fair share of spam calls when back in the UK for anything from insurance to hair loss programs - who the **** do they think they are giving my number out like that!

increased spam Hi all, came over this forum by.. accident Well, I do think mobile phone spam is getting worse As others state, the telcos probably do some good money in selling your number to spammers and selling you services to get rid of them. For my case, it's getting to 3-4 calls a day, mostly the same number. Try calling back that number, always busy or somebody answers in Chinese and hangs up after I say something in English. Though does not prevent them from calling you. Called CSL, they're no help either - saying my number is already set to not receive any marketing calls. So I have no idea who is calling me, I have no idea what they want, and I have no idea how to get rid of them unless joining some privacy programs at csl which I can pay for blocking given numbers. Am I the only one who gets really angry with this and just want to explode? Tom

I think Jay might mean he doesn't answer the calls from spammers, and returns any calls if he recognises the number. I do this, but the spam still goes through to my voicemail, which I pay to receive - argh!!!!
