| Travel time from Kennedy Town I am thinking of moving out to Kennedy Town for the pool season, but have been told very different things about the travel times into Central on weekdays. Someone said it was 10 mins by bus... someone said it was 1 hour and a pain in the rear, due to traffic congestion. Anyone know approximate commute time by bus from Manhattan Heights area to Central? | kennedy town Hi! I m living close to the belcher in Kennedy town and I think it quite fast to reach central: you have several tramways, mini buses and buses going all in that same direction: I would say it takes 10 mn to reach the central metro station when traffic is "normal" and let say 25 mn in the worse case. You shoudn t be worrying about transportation time... and welcome to Kennedy town |

It all depends on how you go there. If you take the flyover (say a cab or something) it can be 5-10 minutes. If you take a shuttle a bus that goes pretty quickly, then 15-20 minutes. If you take a local bus through the back roads, it can be a bit longer. A tram can take a half hour it seems.

I live in Belcher's and it is very easy plus quick to get to Central. As penguinsix said, the flyover takes the least time (4 minutes exactly from Belcher's to IFC 2 in a taxi, where my husband works). Some mini buses take that route also. Mini buses in general are faster, but be careful to sit down quickly (their drivers drive like they are drunk). A citybus is slower. But definitely avoid the tram, if you need to get to work. I would say it also depends upon where in Kennedy Town you are planning to stay. Find out in advance the nearest bus stop and its travel time. You can use www.centamap.com or www.ypmap.com Last edited by shwetapershad; 19-04-2006 at 07:38 AM.

Thanks for that. It's good to know it's not an hour! Now, if we can just prise ourselves off the escalator and associated restaurants...

Manhatten Heights is down by the waterfront in the north west corner of KT. If your going to be staying here for any length of time you might want to consider its next door to a large abattoir site which will be demoshed and redeveloped in the next few years in anticipation of the KT MTR extension. Your also next to the Tram turnaround, and in a fairly industrial area (container dock just otherside of abattoir, car garages on your street and light industries around you) so traffic can be heavy and noisy. It can take anywhere from 7-35mins on the bus to get to central, but the taxis are pretty quick. You can also get a cab/bus to sheung wan and hop on the MTR> Manhatten Heights is close to a Bus Depot/Waiting area (and also just down the road from a bigger depot) so buses are regular and on time... That said there really isnt anything in this area so you will have to travel if you want to go for a coffee or eat out...
