| I don't think you need to, unles California has some special requirement. I know Texas does not. If your registration expires while you are away you should be able to renew at no extra expense when you return. When you renew an expired vehicle registration the folks at the DMV ask if you have driven the vehicle since it has been expired. If you tell them no, you will not be charged extra fees. If your car is going to sit for 6 months you should do the following. 1. Drive at least 20 miles. 2. Top off your gas tank. 3. Put fuel stabilizer in your gas tank. STABL I think is the brand name. 4. Spray some engine fog oil into the cylinders, so that they do not get rusty while you are away. 5. You might want to turn your engine a couple of times while spark plugs are out so the engine fog oil makes it all the way around. 6. Unplug your battery. (as I am writing this I think I forgot to unplug my battery on my motorcycle. Dang It! |
