Hey - I also signed up for the free 7 day trial and did get it without having to sign up to any contracts, so I definately think you had a bad experience. That said, because I couldn't join for a year they told me that membership would cost me HK$1,500 per month. Obviously I didn't go for it, but maybe overall you got an OK deal?

Complain to Consumer Council ?

If u and the gym cannot comprise on ur case, talk to Consumer Council http://www.consumer.org.hk/website/ws_en/ to see what they can help. It is an organisation to protect consumer rights in HK.

never believe any ad that says FREE. therer isnt anything for free in hk. a friend of mine also gave me and another frined free passes which are good for a month of free uses of california fitness facilities. i didnt go for it because i knew i would be pressured into signing some kind of contract and spending big bucks at the end...but the other friend went and she ended up signing a very very expensive contract. a lifetime membership for hk$ 20,000 with monthly fees at hk$ 299 a month. then when she started going...the guys at california pressured her into signing up for a personal trainer...she spent another hk$ 10,000 for that!! bottom line is that...nothing is free in hk. keep that in mind...

yes!! after I have signed that contract, a guy then persuaded me to sign up for 8 lessons with personal trainer which cost $450 a lesson, $3600 in total. He then said the orginal fee for a lesson is $800 but owing i was a new comer, i could enjoy a discount. But I said I couldn't afford that, then he pressured me to sign up for 2 lessons. He said that if i really wanted to get in shape, i should have a personal trainer instructing me how to work out and use those equipments and only if i signed up on that day, i could enjoy that discount.

yes, these heartless salespeople are just way toooooooo agressive. but you know, i really think that special will last for months...not just that day. they always tell us these specials and bonuses are just good for that one day. never believe them. i ve learned my lessons too.

for example: the physical fitness in shatin has a little table in the mall that says TODAY ONLY, SIGN UP FOR $199/MO...but guess what, that table and that sign has been there for months now.

It seems too expensive...
I have joined another fitness centre for 1 month ~ Physical.
It costs HKD1800 per year, no other charges.
Although the facilities of California fitness is better than Physical, I think the price is valuable.
There is 120 aerobic class.
