hello
You both need a good combined value and income to show to the immigration department. Of course the spouse needs to be able to support the dependant. This is one of the major issues for unsuccessful dependant visa applications.

How does the immigration department estimate? What kind of documents should be handed in?

I don't earn much...that means I can't get my spouse a dependant visa?!
