i am thinking of getting a 360 game from canada. will they work with an xbox 360 from hk ? i know dvd playback is region coded, but are games as well ?

do not buy a USA/Canada (North America) machine to HK...
you will only be able to get games via
http://www.cduniverse.com (they deliver worldwide)

buy HK machine and get HK version games (which have many USA titles, too) for only HK$299 (cheapest prices in the world!!)

**plus, if you buy a USA machine or Japan machines, you must buy a 1000W power transformer to transfer the 220V to 100V in order run your XBOX 360

Some games are region encoded, some aren't. If you have a local XBOX, look for games with either NTSC-J or NTSC on them. Do NOT buy one that says NTSC-U/C. Some games marked PAL will work, but not all. www.play-asia.com has a list (not always up to date).

99% of Hong Kong NTSC-J and NTSC releases are in English, and come with Chinese manual and subtitles. Only ONE game has come out with Chinese language, and it was Halo 3. To make matters worse, the box was incorrectly labeled, saying the game's language was English and Chinese. There is a new local Hong Kong version that says "English Version" on the front of the box, and is coded NTSC-J.

Most new games don't have coding

I have a Pal Xbox 360 - and can play most HK Asian Region games.

I just use an Australian Region Free gaming site before i go and purchase so i know it works!
