How popular are these phones? I'd like to potentially subscribe to a surface where I can just chat on the go with friends back home etc.

Is that possible? What are data fee's like in HK?

Do you mean IRC chat like MSN Messenger or Skype? If you do then it's cheaper to get a Windows-based Smartphone/PDA and subscribe to an unlimited GPRS plan from either Sunday or Peoples GSM networks for HKD128/month.

i'm using the unlimited gprs plan from peoples and using verichat for the Treo 650 (for yahoo messenger / msn messenger / aol (or ichat) messenger and icq) as well as checking my e-mail accounts. Or I use this other one for WinMobile/Pocket PC's which do the same thing. The name of which I can't recall at the moment.
