Fastest most dedicated broadband speed / service?

we are migrating old technology (video conference thru telephone) to new technology of internet.

we want to set up a relatively free video conferencing using the internet...but i want to know what the fastest, most stable service is to get here?

the office will be in TST.

Well, the reason I said no one knows is that there is a huge overlap in services and then ... what sort of cost do you want to pay? Do you want a dedicated connection .. or do you want a simple broadband connection?

Sometimes, good enough is exactly what it is .. good enough.

HKBN's BB1000 would be the fastest regular connection, next is Cyberport (150mb/s), then BB100, and then Netvigator is about 8mb/s in TST.

If both offices are located within HK, BB100 is recommended. Otherwise you can't go wrong with PCCW 10MB.

PCCWs business site is a disaster to use, the Metro-Internet page doesn't exist for English and even though i'm using the latest Firefox it keeps on telling me to upgrade my browser. Yay to 1990's web design, they haven't bothered to update the Netscape favicon.ico either.

They only list 6mb for business, and 3/6mb for home use.

I am assuming you switching your Polycoms from ISDN to IP right?

for video conferencing the best thing you can do is figure out what back bone the person you want to talk to is on.

Fastest does not mean that you are going to get good video conferencing...

Fastest? To where? When you do testing for speed, you will go to some download site or something to measure it, but that will only tell you one path on a large WEB of connections. That is not representative.

Some ISPs can give you overal great download speeds, but they can't do it consistently and allow you to do your video conferencing on demmand.

Again you don't need raw speed, you just need enough bandwidth at an ISP that gives predictable performance, to the network the person you want to talk to.

PCCW Netvigator
reliable and good service, but low upload speed (ADSL tech. constrain)

www.netvigator.com

HGC, HKBN
excellent local backbone and server, but fair service and coverage not broad as PCCW.

www.hkbn.ccom.hk
