Redhill vs. Repulse Bay

I'm moving to HK in the coming months and have started looking online for places to live. I used to live in HK but haven't lived there in 10 years and I have never lived on the island side. Seaview is something I'd really prefer to have although I'd definitely consider other places. If I work in Central, how much further will the commute be if I lived at Redhill Peninsula in Tai Tam compared to Repulse Bay? I have also thought about Park Island but one of my friends just told me yesterday that the air is much more polluted there than the rest of HK (don't really know why). Is that true? One of the other potential problems with Park Island is that I'm considering getting a used car as well and I believe you can't park on Park Island. Thanks.

Redhill

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who lives or has lived in Redhill/Tai Tam area and Repulse Bay too, on what they like and don't like about where they live.

Would still prefer TaiTam Area which is more quiet and relaxing. Commuting is not an issue at all and access to the city from Repulse BAy (via Aberdeen Tunnel) actually harder (in rush hr) than the other way round. Takes me 20-25minutes by car from Tai Tam to Kowloon Bay. Also, TaiTam rents are more reasonable than Repulse BAy (even though still crazy), also no problem to access stores and this kind of stuff in Stanley.

Tinesebastian: Thanks for the info. I did a bit more research on commuting. It seems the shuttle buses don't start until 7:15 am, which is a bit late for me but that's assuming about a 30-40 minute ride to Central. Is that about the right time frame?

No idea on the actual time, however 7:15 sounds reasonable, especially as business live in HK starts usually at 9am.

we live in tai tam - we love it. i have a 7 month year old son and my husband commutes into central. it's about at 10 min cab to repulse and even closer to stanley. air quality is better and how can you beat waking up to an amazing view each morning?!
