man i really need to go shamshuipo to see who does these "installations"
Cable TV don't have reception in the building I live in ....... and they told me to install the dish to get reception I would need to pay $2,000. For Now Broadband, they said they don't have anything less than 12month contract

Talking NOW comes free with Broadband Internet plan

I recently purchase broadband internet with Nevigator and they have gave me a year free of NOW cable TV. I didn't have to pay any extra installation at all. I only have to pay for $200 a month for my internet access. They gave me Discovery channels too! Don't know if this offer is still on. Perhaps you would like to check with them. Good luck!

I've given in and just ordered a 6MB Netvigator plus NOW TV with Star/ESPN, HBO, BBC plus the free channels for HK$294 per month (with an 18 month commitment on the broadband, 12 months on the channels). Given that my 3MB So-net service plus Cable TV are costing me $437 per month this is a deal I can't refuse, although I will be sorry to leave So-net because their service is actually very good.

Okay.....so I actually went to Shamshuipo and signed up on the "streets" with NOW Broadband. 18 month contract, I get broadband internet and NOW TV, 10 free channels + 1 you can choose free (I chose Discovery), and signed up for Star Chinese Movies channel. Free installation, contract transferrable, free digi decoder box, for $194 + "the extra channel". Not bad at all! The dude stands on behind the Golden Computer Center in shamshuipo if you want to know =)
Hehe, so I get TV and Internet now =) kekeke

Thumbs up HK Broadband providers?

Great info! I'm about to move in to a new flat. Can you guys give me some advice on broadband service providers.
(1) Besides PCCW, who are the other broadband service providers
(2) Who do you recommend?
I did read the Resource area but only one other other one was listed/rated.

Broadband service providers

I was using So-net, and I was quite pleased, but they recently announced that as of Sept 6, all customers will be transferred to Netvigator/PCCW - but at the same rates as before.

Well - honestly - So-net was using Netvigator's network before - just selling rates on top of Netvigator backbone - so it should not change technically - and will still be cheaper than Netvigator's rates.

But Netvigator is more difficult to deal with - bureaucratic.

As for the others - there are quite a lot. Walk around the Wanchai Computer Centre and you will see street vendors selling packages at better rates.

It doesn't surprise me much.

I subscribed to nowbroadband after seeing a few cable tv provider.

No offense, but all of them just sucks. I don't understand why you have to pay for every channel that isn't even a premium channel in other countries. For those that want to subscribe better think several times before purchasing. What I do now is get live feed over the internet from my friends who are in the Philippines and America.

My two cents here.

Hi, I am looking at the netvigator site. Their broadband internet service talks about a usage of 20 hrs, 100hrs etc. Isn't broadband always on - are there restrictions on usage?

Also, how does one get the bundled packages of Netvigator and now TV? Is it only 'on the roads'?

Thanx, Kram
