1. Travel guide book (like Lonely Planet books)

2. Books to learn mandarin and cantonese (like self study or similar0

I saw a pretty good selection of travel books at Dymock's in the IFC mall. you can also try PageOne at Kowloon Tong, etc. There was also a random bookstore at Queen's Road in WanChai that had some things, it's upstairs but there is a sign.

How long will you be in HK? if it's long enough try the public library...I find great selection, you just have to return or renew it in 2 weeks...
