The Marco Polo Club comes in different "colours" or status levels depending on how much you fly on CX and other OneWorld airlines.

The entry level (Green card) which is what comes free with the Citi CX card doesn't bring you very much frankly, although at HK airport and one or two other places there is a dedicated Marco Polo checkin line you can use.

Fly 30,000 miles or 20 sectors (business counts 1.25, first = 1.5) within a year and you get Silver status which gets you access to business checkin and lounges when flying CX. Once you are Silver you need to fly 30,000 more within the next year to renew or 60,000 (or 40 sectors) to progress to Gold, which gets some more privileges. Then 120,000 or 80 sectors gets you to Diamond which gets yet more privileges (including using CX F lounges when flying OneWorld or J lounges when flying on any airline).

I'm interested. Is there a minimum before you get the cashback? Citibank's website suggests a $250 minimum for the $1 cashback.

As far as i remember, there is no minimum spending...its flat 5% on selected merchants and 0.4% on other merchants. Also, when i got the card, i was given $300 cash back, as gift, on spending first $2000.

OK, was cashback the reason for choosing that particular card over the Gold and Platinum cards?

The Citibank Platinum card here enrols you in their Rewards Program and not cashback according to their website.

The cashback card in HK is a "gold" card with 200,000 minimum annual salary...

"Citibank Cash Back VISA Card gives you cash rebates on your spending and monthly chances to earn even more with Citibank Jackpot." From their website it looks like a classic coloured visa card. Minimum salary required is $60,000. Gold visa minimum salary required is $140,000. Check it out here.
