My Bhogling Brother..............

I tried Nero burning ROM (nice software, thx), and same problem. Seems to occur immediately after the layer break.....

I was in the US a few months ago and managed to pick up a spindle set of 25 discs from BestBuy for like, $50 USD, so I thought it was a great deal.....

The discs are Memorex, but they are actually manufactured by RITEK. I think they are sensitive to the drive you use. I have tried these discs on my HP notebook and my wifes Sony notebook, and BOTH dont burn successfully!! DOH!

Grumble grumble.....

Try upgrading the firmware on your burner.

>> How would the layer break work with regular data?

Not a problem. It is handled transparently by hardware.

Make sure you have turned off antivirus checkers and other background tasks when you're burning.

Not had a problem with Nero on my end.

TrialByError is on a distinguished road
What Nero are you using? Try the Nero 7 Ultra Edition

Before I start write a Dual Layer I run the original DVD-9 through DVD2One and use Full Disc and as output size Dual Layer, In that case the Layer Breach bit is properly set.

I would also probably change the disks since RITEK discs are known to be, well more usable as coasters than dvds. Buy yourself Verbatim instead, the success ratio of burned disks will in the end make the Verbatim per disk burn cheaper than the RITEK.

A good idea is also to follow the Rules of burning

I dont think there are firmware updates for my drive. I think what I will do is pick up a verbatim disc, and try that one.

Will post to let you know how it goes....

Am using Nero 6 Burning ROM. 7 Ultra ediition was just overkill with TV recording features etc. which I just didnt need. Plus I heard that 6 is more stable then 7.
