Citibank HK user?

Any Citbank HK users here?

i opened an account, and got my ATM card a while back.

it has only worked 2 times at park n shop, never any where else, and never again at park n shop.

it works at atm's fine...but when i try the eps..it wont work.
citibank says the strip is fine, but it definitly is not fine

anyone else have this happen? any tricks to make the card work?

in my old bank days in boston, i used to have a trick with my banks cards...we could put scotch tape over the black bar..and it would read fine.

tried it here...doesnt work.

im ticked off...any help?

Just ask them to replace it.

Citibak cards are, unfortunately, much lower quality than others (e.g. HSBC). I have to get my Citbank Visa card replaced every 9 months or so just because it physically wears out or the mag stripe stops being read by a significant proportion of readers.

I dun understand.. if ur card gives u so much trouble.. why not just throw it back to the bank n get it replaced?

I had some problems with my Singapore Citibank card only becoz i placed it too near to my PDA phone ( i like to clip it in between my magnetic closure of my phone).. that definitely kills the strip. Some machines may have issues with reading it.. but not that often plus i have 2 cards from CItibank so it wont be too much of a hassle.

HAven tried my Citibank HK card yet.. just collected it frm the post office today. I'll let u know if it screws up too..

they checked the magnetic strip and said it was OK.....but i explained its not...

they said since their machine says its fine, it would cost money to replace...but i didnt ask how much...i was just P.O.'ed and thought maybe it will work now....

havent had a chance to go back yet...

Then break it.

Thought you used to work for a bank and had the greatest of lateral thinking skills around here.

huh ? guess i'm going to skip citi hk.. was thinking of opening a maxisave acct...

usually in sg, u call them and report a problem and within 24 hours they'll make a new one and send it to your place.

Hi mattstewart
I've been using the Citibank ATM card for years now and haven't had any trouble using EPS. Don't know if you know but with their cards you have to add 00 (zero zero) after your 4 digit pin in order to use EPS. If this is not the case then like the other said find another bank.

Hope that helps

Then BREAK IT! Cut it into 2 or something..

I think the banks here are getting more aggressive on their credit cards marketing.. which means they will, in general, give u better services? In sg, like wat freeier mentioned, they will hurry to give u a replacement just in case u decide to not use it afterall!

I ticked Citibank off for not getting back to me within 3 working days when they said 3-5.. & they gave me my card within a week. i'm sure u can try the tougher approach. Shld work when u say u will cancel ur application.

Gd luck!

Btw, i haven tried the EPS.. but do u really have to put a "00" at the back?
