| CWB is probably alittle too noisy for a family. If u wan a conducive environment for ur kids, its definitely not a gd place. Western Mid levels, Kennedy Town have pretty gd sch selections and if u look carefully u can definitely find something u will like. Else, there's always Sai Wan Ho.. Grand Promenade is really nice with more spaces on the streets than the cramped & littered-with-shops streets in CWB.. MTR travel here in HK is amazingly fast & u can get to CWB in no more than 30 mins frm ur doorstep. they still have quite a number of units unrented. The large supply of apts is making the rental cheap. was offered one 600sq ft, 2 bdrooms @ 11k.. IF u need soemthing bigger, be prepared to pay up to 25k.. I was at Kennedy Town & the apts are cheap too. Likewise the same SS vs Dd causing the rates to be lowered. The area is older but the merton estate is new and u get alot of buses and trams routes to town. Think u can get something decent ard 800 sq ft, 3 bdrooms, on their tower 3 for 12k if u bargain hard enough.. btw, u can go to gohome.com.hk to have an idea of rentals in hk.. |

hi olismum, i moved from Paris to HK last July. I live in Taikoo Shing. You can be in CWB in 15 minutes by subway. If you want to stay in town, it's a place I definitely recommend to people who have kids. The estates are behind the main road which is busy, though much less busy than CWB. And between the sea and the estate, there is a park with promenade, soccer ground, tennis ground, basket ball ground, path to jog, etc..., and the only ice skating rink of the island in the shopping mall. Not so much car, many shops, restaurants and wet markets, movie theater and our fitness club is a few minutes walk only. There are many Japanese and Korean expats living here so the price of the flats is a bit expensive. Your 1200 sf in here would cost about 25K and more. Though the usable area could be bigger than some flats in CWB. I visited some 1200 sf in CWB and the usable area is about the same as the 850 sf flat in Taikoo Shing. There is a Canadian school in one of the estate. Hope it can help. But as someone already recommends you, the best thing to do is to rent a serviced appartment and take your time to visit because you can see all and anything in HK. Good luck! |
