Hi - just wanted to share some TEFL info.
I have just completed an online TEFL course and is was really easy. Not the work but the process. you submit your modules and then a live teacher marks them for you and you get feedback. I paid in UK £ and it was about £300.
They give you 6 months to complete but I do not work at the moment and completed in just over 5 weeks. I have extra working with young people to do and business so I will hopefully be able to do some worthwile voluntary work when I arrive in HK.

When I did the course there was an option to do a 'test' and then you did not have to pay to do the extra business module.

I did this one too! - 40 Hour Certificate. It was enough to get me a job in HK with no previous experience. I recommend it if you have little time and money.

So did you manage to get the job overseas or in HK ?
And they applied the work permit for you ?

so to everyone who took this online course.. Have you actually been able to use this certification and put it to good use? Are you being paid your worth currently by landing a good solid job? Let me know as I'd consider doing this.. I've worked with Kids from pre K -5th grade.. for a year and have had lots of interaction with them while working in the equine(horse) industry. If this certification really is worth it I'd be interested in taking it to get certified in hopes to land a good job in HK doing this.

Do be careful with the online TEFL courses. If you want to work as a NET teacher with EMB, then the online courses may not be the one for you. As far as I know, EMB do not recognise the online courses.
