friends are arriving to HKG and want to continue to Shenzhen straight without stopping (will be stopping over on way back). they are asking if they can get a transfer to Shenzhen directly from HK airport (ideally without customs/passport formalities) or they have to go downtown HK to catch the ferry to Shenzhen?

I found this SkiPier on the airport site but can someone confirm that this service is direct from the HKIA to Shenzhen and no border clearance will be required at HK airport?

Yes, the ferry is dirent to Shenzhen, but not sure if you need to clear customs. When you get off the plane, look for a sign mentioning the ferry service and follow it. But make sure that you have the visa to China taken care of.

You don't have to clear anything in HKG - it is treated as an international transit. If you have checked baggage make sure that you keep the barcode receipt so that you can give it to the people at the ferry transit desk at HKG and they can retrieve your luggage for you.

you have to get to the Ferry (follow the signs for China Ferry in HKG airport--- do not go thru immigration/customs or u cannot get back in) at least 1 hour before departure.

another good web site that has ferry times is www.shenzhenparty.com under the transportation link.

remember, if going from HK Airport to SZ, look for the ferry sign inside the airport, near starbucks. if you go thru HK immigration, you will not be able to take the HKIA-SZ ferry!

How do I get to Kowloon to spend the night - then to the airport?
