I would like to have an idea about salaries and conditions in a Big 4 in HK for a manager with international experience (Europe and US) in audit of financial services institutions. I have an offer but have no idea about the cost of life (except what I saw in this forum), salary grids, etc. All the ideas and comments are welcome,... thanks.

Check out things such as jobsdb.com.hk etc and see what they're paying.

Big 4's though are not really competitve in salaries, As I found out recently when I was told I was too expensive despite only asking for $23k a month hk for a senior helpdesk analyst role.

Check out the salary surveys from the meat market recruiters (Michael Page, Robert Walters et al). If nothing there then they should be able to answer questions via a confidential telephone chat. I'd suspect manager salaries to be in the vacinity of Hk$40-50,000 per month for a local hire, significantly greater than the HK$10,000 average salary in HK which I also understand is the starting grad salary at the Big 4s. HK$40,000 should you allow to live comfortably if you're happy to live within that budget I've never worked in a Big 4 in HK but I hear from others that you should expect NY type hours and deadlines.

Thanks guys for the information... as I am not familiar with the cost of life out there, I am little worried about a drop of our standard of living...

I live in New york currently, but I have a corporate appartment... and in HK, I will have to rent an appartment by my own...

Well, you might be paying about $20K/month for a nice 1000sqft apartment on HK island.
