Expats who play musical instruments

I sing and I am reaching again to the expat community to find people who play musical instruments and would like to put together a rock band. The local "kids" only play metal and that doesn't match with my Queen, Van Halen, Scorpions, Beatles, Journey, Elvis, Elton John, etc influences. The band could play either covers or originals. Lets play good music, impress HK and have some fun.

Hey Volgan,

You know if I could sing or play any instrument, I would definitely have joined, only to be in your company!!! (Thank God!! I am happily married!!! )

But let me know whenever you need some cheering and moving to the beat - shall definitely be there!!!

Hope you find the right people. My beloved would have loved to join, but you know that we are not here for long, so it does not really make sense to do so....

But both of us wish you "Happy Tunes"!!!!

Warm regards,

Rubina

I am a guitarist of sorts. My influences differ from yours a little, but this need not be a problem. Sounds interesting.

No problem, I am pretty flexible just want to avoid pure screaming.
Even something acoustic would work. I just wanted to get it started and see where it goes. Suggestions?

Heya Volgan I've actually been looking to start a band lately too. I haven't really done very much since I moved to Hong Kong a few months ago. I'm mainly a guitarist/vocalist, though I can play some keyboards (don't expect much, I stopped playing piano a few years ago). I also know a drummer who would be very interested in joining us too.

Oh, and just because no post is complete without it:

Sounds great. Let's put all your musical talents together and call your drummer friend. If we go either originals or covers I suggest we start with covers to warm up and get to know each other musically. If you all agree I think we could put together a list of songs we would like to play (everything) and then we narrow it down to what we all know, we can save some time like that. What do you think?

ops, almost forgot:

Actually, I would really enjoy trying something acoustic to start too. I used to be in a few "louder" bands (and a u2 cover band), but personally I've always been most comfortable with my acoustic guitar. Stuff I enjoy playing most is like...the mountain goats, the microphones, neutral milk hotel, circulatory system, etc.

neither3nor4 / Shutensa,

can we start with acoustic then? Please put together a list of songs you would like to start with but keep in mind that we probably have different backgrounds so let's stick with well known (world famous) songs at first.
What do you think?
