If you read through some threads in the forum, and/or do some searches, you will find some answers to your questions.

however, i will add my 2cents worth anyways

Phone calls to UK vary from company to company. expect to pay b/w $0.40HK to $3HK.

Phone chips - I assume you mean SIM cards. They can be bought as pre-paid, pay as you go or monthly plans, pretty much like the rest of the world.

transport - cheap as chips. don't fret there.

flatshare - i have no idea. do a search, or look in classified.

there is a search forums panel to the left - there are HEAPS of threads on your questions. also a couple on climate too

If you are very price sensitive then you can fairly easily get calls to the UK down to about HK$0.17 per min, and less if you really hunt around.

Google for 1507 who charge HKD0.07/minute to the UK and Australia.
