I just got the 8700G blackberry, would like to know if i can write in both english and chinese without needing to change the language setting, similar to any nokia phone.

you can press 2 buttons on the keyboard at the same time to switch language while typing

[lower left key (shift) + lower right key (enter)]

thanks for the advice, but it did not work on the 8700G model.
pressing both keys just made the icon scroll down.
