Working Days HK?

I recently visited HK for about a week. I fell in love with the city and am thinking about getting a job there. Most likely I would be working for an american company in an office as a financial analyst. My question is: I've heard that the normal work week in HK is Monday - Saturday. Is this correct?

Thanks in Advance.

Nothing is normal for financial analysts, specially with the brand name banks. Expect to put in the same amount of hours you would in New York + a little bit more.

Vacationing and living here are two totally different things. It's a different lifestyle here, just be prepared. All the best.

I realize vacationing & living in a city are two different things. In general, I'm still curious what the normal working hours/days are in HK for those expats in a corporate environment.

If I read you correctly I think the answer would be Monday to Friday 0830 to 1900 hours. I don't work those hours per se but something similar.

As per what discobay says, those are I would say your typical working hours and maybe a few all nighters if theres any projects or deadlines coming up.

Oh and in some companies you're unlucky enough to be working alternate saturday mornings.

All three of the HK offices I have worked in have tended to start between 09:00 and 09:30 - in any of them, come in much before 9 and you're turning the lights on. But the earliest anyone ever leaves is 18:00; the average is probably around 19:00; and there will always be someone in the office until at least 20:30.
