| | | Dehumidifier?? Can anyone recommend what type of dehumidfier to buy? There are so many different types and am wondering what I really need to keep a 5 room flat and 2 sets of wardrobes relatively dry.
Thanks as usual. | |

| | | For the wardrobes get the disposable ones from wellcome etc they're perfectly fine.
For the rest I'd get one of those floor standing ones from fortress etc as soon as possible as its definately getting more humid now. | |

| | | I agree with that. For my 1000 sq.ft one of the Fortress ones (running pretty much continuously on low power) plus chemical pots/sachets in the cupboards and drawers does the job. | |

| | How much do the electrical humidifiers cost - I heard they run a few thousand HK$?
Which ones are the best value for money? The Fortress brand?
Thanks again. | |

| | | Assuming you mean dehumidifier (humidifiers exist, but are the opposite) then, yes, less than a thousand. Plus running costs of $1-200 per month if you run it full time. | |

| | | Ooops, I meant dehumidifier.
So Fortress is the best place to get them? Saw some in Wing On, but they were around $3000.
BTW- worth it to get a used one, or are new ones recommended?
Finally, suggestions on capacity for a 1200 sq ft flat (300 sq ft living area)?
Thanks again.

| | | Picked up a Sanyo De Humidifier/Fan/ Aircon combo on wheels. They still make the same model and it sells for $2800 ish. I bought mine in 94 and it still works great in a 2,000 sq ft flat. I have it on most of the time. | |

| | | I bought a Rowenta 16L dehumidifying capacity one from Wing On last summer. It believe it was like $2800-$2900, so not cheap. It's modernly designed and space efficient, plus works well. However this dehumdifying capacity is still considered about mid range, so you generally have to leave it running most of the day or overnight if the air is quite humid. They had models that supposedly you can just run a few hours, but then you're talking in the price range of like $4000 plus. But I think when it's peak humid season (like starting now), you pretty much have to leave any dehumdifier on 24/7. So, you definitely want one that runs quietly, in which this one is definitely acceptable. | |

| | I just picked up a Fortress 10L for about HKD990 today - it is a very basic model but figure it is (hopefully) enough for now. In a couple of weeks the aircons will be going, so hopefully the humidity levels in the flat will drop.
Also stocked up on tons of dehumidifying boxes and drawer packets. | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 03:45 AM. | Partners |
