I am a 25 yr old guy and it has now been about 4 months since I have relocated to HK and I must say I am quite disappointed with the nightlife here. Although on the surface, it seems like it caters to a variety of ages/musical preferences, this is in fact not the case. The choice is very limited in terms of number and if you are one to say "Quality over quantity", well, you will not be happy either. The 3 main types of Bars/Clubs are:

1. The White Paradise: Mainly around LFK, these bars are almost solely populated with caucasian guys and girls,mostly british rugby-lovers. The people who do not like to meddle with the local crowd can be found here.

2. The Elitist Paradise: The biggest and most popular clubs belong in here. They are a pain to get into; either your wallet suffers or your mouth (from talking of course ). It is mainly populated with richer/better connected locals and gold digger/highly-materialistics girls.

3. The Philipino Paradise: These are the cheaper and much more easy to get into bars and clubs mainly located in the Wanchai area. There is a good mixture of caucasian / chinese / philipino that are looking for "fun". High chance of encounter with prostitutes. If you don't mind going lower, you could do worse (hint: the gogo bars located throughout the area!).

Varied enough for you? Do you find a category which fits what you want?
Well I honestly do not. I have grown up in several very different countries, seen many different kind of clubbing scenes, and I would rate HK to be below average at best.

Obviously, this is all from a single guy's perspective. If I am going out to a club, I want to meet girl(s) as well as enjoy the music ( there are many other ways to meet 'guy friends' so lets not BS here guys). The "White Paradise" is full of expat wives / middle-aged career women. The "Elitist Paradise" is full of girls who are either looking for men to pay to maintain their expensive behinds or are too intimidated by the foreign guy whom they have pre-judged as being the "dangerous hunter". The "Philipino Paradise" is full of both horny guys (older white guy) and girls (philipino maids) who do not mind what is on their plate as long as it is not empty.

So I ask you, long-time residents of Hong Kong, what bar/club do I find the ladies that are down to earth yet mysterious and appealing and know how to test/appreciate a guy for what he really is without being too scared he will undo her with the blink of an eye?

Chrome my dear boy, What you are looking for is the holy grail indeed and the problem you have now is that you are advertising yourself as being on the lookout so therefore any girls from the boards here and which there are plenty of lovely friendly single ones will now be more wary should you attend one of our regular happy hours.

LKF is definately not just full of those rugger bugger types and yes there are plenty of locals which do mix with the expats etc. Which bars/pubs in LKF are you going to exactly? As you're clearly going to the wrong ones!

Ever tried the personals and maybe finding your special someone from there?

I am indeed on the lookout, as is any single guy that has the balls (pardon me for the lack of a better term) to admit it, which is in fact MOST of the single guys you see clubbing out there. And to the lovely, friendly, single ladies from these boards you mention: they should already be wary( and for the most part are) of all guys that approach them in clubs,bars. If they have judged me already by my honest thoughts which I have shared here, well then I would rather not meet them anyways.

Please have some reccomendations (bar/club) for where you think I should go. Thanks!

Ok, I admit I have stereotyped in order to make my point. However, it doesnt mean I categorize people when I meet them (wherever, whenever). I dont base these comments on guesses. I have actually met these kid of people I mention in those places and I have talked to them for quite a while. Anyone on these boards who thinks above my views are too harsh and wishes to put ME in their 'oh what a jerk guy' category can freely do so if they choose to. This will not bother me since you dont know me.

So if I say I am a truly a nice and sociable guy, will you judge me as being narcisist?

Theres nothing wrong per se but he should of kept his mouth shut about his intentions, If he decides to join one of our meetings then he should treat it as an opportunity to make new friends and see what develops from there as opposed to seeing it purely as some sort of meat market which it clearly is not.

Unless you have met every single person that frequents bars in LKF, Soho, Wanchai etc etc you are in no position to judge and make stereotypes. If I go to say America and the first few people I see are obese then does that make all americans obese? I think not.

Nah .. just someone who is full of himself.

I tend to judge people on how they judge others and right now, its not looking too good.
