Driving in HK

Hi, we just bought a car and managed to get hold of a 'supposedly' billingual driving guide. Was wondering if anyone out there knows where to get an English only drivin guide? The maps in the driving guide I bought, are not only confusing(especially the road signs), but many of the names of buildings are in Chinese. So it really gets very frustrating. In the end, I actually take the cab and take down notes to learn the route. Please let me know if anyone out there knows where to get one....Thanks!

I was given one in English automatically when I got my HK Driving Licence...

You do know that if you are resident in HK for more than 90 days then you must get a HK Driving Licence if you wish to drive here? If you have a licence issued by one of the "approved" countries then it's simply a direct issue (fill in the forms, hand them in with copies of the relevant documents, go back a week later, pay HK$900 and get your HK driving licence). Otherwise you have to take the local test to get the licence.

Sorry - I should say that the document I am referring to is more about the rules of the road in HK and all the various roadsigns.

It seems to me that route signs in HK are generally pretty good - but you can get street maps at any good bookshop (Dymocks or similar for example).

THanks, PDLM, we are now awaiting for our HK driving license to be ready. I have tried several book stores and most of them carry only the 'Hong Kong Driving Guide 2006" and its billingual. Well, sometimes just like what u say follow the road signs. Slowly getting used to driving in HK. Its quite OK actually, just that not used to the roads being single lane and narrow.
