| Dual Chinese/Canadian Returning to Canada From Mainland through Hong Kong Hi there, My sister holds both Canadian and Chinese (mainland) passports. A couple of years ago she went inside China on her Chinese passport and due to family commitments she couldn't leave until now. Now she has to go back to Canada but finds herself stuck there as she is not allowed to exit China using her Canadian passport. She was advised by both Canadian Embassy and mainland governmental official that only way for her to return to Canada is by transiting through a 3rd location. My question is can she do it through Hong Kong. If she comes to Hong Kong with her mainland chinese paper, is she allowed to catch a flight to Canada upon leaving Hong Kong? Will Hong Kong immigration send her back to mainland instead? Another question: Can she obtain a visa to china on her Canadian passport by applying directly at the Visa Office of PRC Ministry of Foreign affairs? We know that CTS wouldn't take applications where the foreign passport doesn't have Hong Kong arrival stamp, as will be in her case. I will deeply appreciate any response. Many thanks, Sadmole |

| No clue. All you'll get here is pure speculation. Would suggest you talk to a competant immigration lawyer who has dealt with this before. Alternatively, Hong Kong specific questions should be sent to enquiry@immd.gov.hk
