Creative Job search help!

Hi all,

I just graduated from university in the US and I'm currently back in HK looking for a job. I'm a graphic designer looking to work in a creative dept or marketing, pr. From what I've heard from friends here it's not that easy to find a job in those fields. I was wondering if anyone has any advice, pointers, or can just help point me in a direction to start my search.

Thanks!

This was discussed recently and a few good pointers were given. www.media.com.hk is a good site for creative recruitment, as is an agency called Aquent.

Thumbs up

be positive! it isn't that difficult to get a job in the creative industry. i graduated last year ( summer ) and went travelling, started looking for a job in early jan and i got a job in late jan. try jobsdb.com , that may help, plus i think the most important thing is to prepare a nice portfolio ( a nice one in A4 or A3 format ), and a pdf containing a few pages of your work sample. the rest is, good luck.

dont be unhappy if you don't get job interviews, just keep looking, cos my boss told me that many employers in hong kong just look for someone who has the skills to do artwork, not a creative designer.

let me know if you need any help, i have some friends ( most of them were my classmates ) and i could ask them if the companies they are working for have any vacancy!

good luck !

And you should expect overtime working for design/ creative job in HK..... work until 9/ 10pm is usual, specially on junior post.
