hurray! I was hoping Tim would respond. Your post about marrying a HK girl was the first thing I ever read on Geoexpat becuase I just met a very nice HK girl too. We're getting married in October, how are you and your HK girl?

Glad to bring some history back to life. To answer your question we are engaged (for the last year) and running along quite nicely. Hope I get some good luck when the job search starts in earnest this coming September/October but I'm worried because it's kind of an off season for hiring at that time.

The name I post under now is Emuse

As other said, have you ever been to Hong Kong? if the answer is no, I suggest you to come over and have a look by yourself and see what's your feeling to live in Hong Kong... then get your longterm decision.

Sorry but I just realized that you've been to HK already... all the best!

Getting Married is Easy at Hong Kong

Hi all,
My husband, Indian and I, Turkish got married in Hong Kong last December. My husband had a residency that time and I was on tourist visa. We went to registry office at Wanchai. We just gave them our passport (They are checking whether you are staying in Hong Kong legally) and fee then you can select the date. They have to post your request for 2 weeks in case anybody objects. After registering you can chose any date (but u should wait at least 2 weeks). It was very easy no trouble at all.
Good luck
Nese

I was in a similar situation as you, but I was the one to move to the US, for three years now. Start a new life in another country is not easy, but it is possible. And, my husband names Tim too, good luck!!

I guess a married life together means living and accepting flaws that we may not see when we were just dating... Before you that the leap please do try and check if you could adapt to the change in lifestyle, environment and surrounding factors.

Some times many factors will or may bring about a series of bad karma, relationship issues, dreams and inspiration...

Its sad and horrifying if the fairy tales ends up in blood and tears.
