Smile Teaching job/info. needed-help!

Hi there,
My husband has been offered a position in Hong Kong. We're from America and Canada and don't know much about HK, so we're trying to learn more quickly!! We've heard it's an interesting place.
Can you help me with a few queries I have?

I have a lot of teaching experience and would be looking for a job either teaching English or English as a Second Language to adults or teaching children. (I have degrees in both areas. Any idea of the demand for either area? Any idea of the pay?)
What would we expect to pay for a full-time live out nanny?
Can you tell me where most expatriates send their children to school?I heard that the schools are good over there. Is that true?
Will I be able to find other expatriate women around?
Thanks a million.
S

SBK,

Full time nanny / helper: HK$3700-5000.
Meeting other women: http://www.awa.org.hk
Expatriate Schools: http://www.classmateasia.com or http://www.esf.edu.hk

You may want to get certified to allow you can teach in the ESF (in which case your kids can study there for free and the job can be fairly rewarding in terms of finances and satisfaction).

Will dig up some more links in a bit.

Links

Thank you. Those links were very helpful.
I'm now working on finding a school which has the lowest amount of children in a class. It seems like 30 is considered the lowest possible. I'll continue searching for a school with expatriate children also. Thanks so much!!

Re helper/nanny - those rates are for live-in. Don't know how much extra live-out costs but I heard HK Immigration don't allow new contracts to be live-out, at least officially. (This is of course assuming the helper is not local or permanent res and is subject to HK Immig rules - which is the norm).

diseases

I know a lot of great things about about Hong Kong but I've also heard some negative things.

I've heard that there are really bad diseases and pollution there. Is that true? Are there good doctors?
Do women get treated decently? Are there any negative cultural issues?
