| Non-Chinese Speaking Job Opp Likelihood? Looking for advice on the likelihood of finding employment that does not require advance understanding of Mandarin/Cantonese. I am moving out to HK this July on an expat package continuing in I-Banking. My boyfriend, who is white, will be joining me. He speaks no Chinese at all, although I will start to teach him some basics. He is graduating with an MBA in International Finance from a second-tier institution here in the U.S. this May, and has limited work experience (he went directly to B-School from undergrad). What is the likelihood of him finding a position in HK that fits his qualifications without taking too much of a pay/responsibility cut? Also, should he start seeking positions now via job databases and recruiters or wait until he gets to HK physically? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks! |
