Another way to look at it is that they took a great camera, listened to people's suggestions for improvement, included most of them and dropped the price. The name doesn't bother me - its just part of the marketing.
Canon have already
admitted they can't currently up the MP in a 1.6x sensor without compromising image quality. A D30 seems like a good long-term resting place to me - what more am I going to really need in a camera (I'm no pro)? To get 50% more resolution, I would need to wait until an 18MP+, 1.6x crop equivalent is available with the same or better price and quality. That's a few years off for sure...
