I'm going to Guangzhou next weekend, and have never visited it before. I have saturday afternoon and most of sunday free...does anyone have any sugegstions on interesting places to go / things to see? any hints or tips would be much appreciated!!

Here are a few things to see

Sun Yat Sen memorial
Beijing Street (main shopping area)
Xingping Market (one of the biggest market in asia..you will find anything: rats, dogs, cats, bats...)
Shamian Island (old european style building, very nice and relax area)
Renmin Park (for a "dance lesson" or an early Tai Qi)

Guangzhou is changing fast and becoming a more and more attractive city ! Enjoy your stay !
