I believe so. I still haven't made it over to Coffeeassembly and I live right next to HKU! I tried to find it once and couldn't. I guess I should try again at some point. hehe. Anyone want to go looking for it with me?

I know the gorgeous and leggy Chinese woman known as goodfood's been there and says it's not as good as it was when Felix spent more time there, but I still want to check it out.

SegaFredo

Yuck!

I thought Segafredo was pretty good the first time I went there, I don't know why, maybe because it was just different from Starbucks.

However, going back sober, I found the espressos really strong (not in a good way), sour, and like boblam07 said, tasting like burnt rubber.

Coffeeassembly is in a whole different category of better, given its freshly roasted beans. I've only been once to Tata, but it was pretty good, even the non-freshly roasted bean imported from Italy.

All great recommendations from this forum!

Jay - Coffee Assembly is actually not on Peel St though most people think it is. It's actually on the Elgin St extension parallel to Peel St, right next to the Nepalese bar called Bhatti and opposite Sahara, Babek and Tribute.

I am good for a cup there on Saturday morning after 11 am if you're up to it. Promise to bring my gorgeous long legs with me

I realise coffee isn't an Asian thing but surely in a city of 7+ million there must be a place that has GREAT coffee?? I gave the Illy coffee at Epoch 6.5/10. Maybe it was the barrista. I had a double shot, and with the latte it needed it. A single shot would have been ridiculously weak.

2 latte macchiatos and 2 bottles of water - HK$100.
It totally agree. Illy on Star St is not the best coffee in Hong Kong.

"In Hong Kong side, try Cafe Zambra in wanchai (jaffe road). Nice place, very good espresso based beverage and food. One of the best coffee place in Hong Kong.

In Kowloon side, try Crema Coffee in TST East near Regal Kowloon Hotel. They have a small coffee roaster inside the shop. Very fresh coffee. I had espresso and it was nice. They also offer free wi-fi." Quote from Espresso.

Those places actually roast their own coffee, and you'll most likely get a nice Rosetta in your latte/flate white.

Not like Illy on Star street. Gave me a hot coffee when I specifically asked for luke warm! >.<
Then gave me a single shot when I asked for double during my 2nd visit. THERE'S NO LOVE!

Goodfood: Sorry, something came up, I have to leave home at 10:30 to be somewhere at 11:30. Won't be able to meet you for coffee unless you're up for a 10 AM meet.

Great, let me know if they open in time and I'll be there.

Just tried some of HKCoffee's Finca Helsar. Really good stuff, but pricey. If you guys ever want good Costa Rican coffee (albeit a week or two past roasting), check out Cafe Cristina (Cafe Cristina...A Healthy Earth Grows Great Coffee!). They ship worldwide from Costa Rica and their prices are pretty good.

My ex-girlfriend's name was Cristina, and I bought some to surprise her with. Turned out to be surprisingly good (better than her in some ways..hehe). You get cool Costa Rican stamps on the package too!
